Experience counts as five seniors
lead the 1994 squad to victory

The Cohasset Girls' Soccer
Team enjoyed quite a suc-
cessful season, finishing with
a record of 1 1-6-1. Under the
direction of a new; coach,
Maureen O'Day Clark, the
team adjusted well. Every
game was close and thrilling
to watch. A surprise upset
and the season opener was
the win over Morwell, 4-0.
However, defeating Abington

4-2 in the 5tate Tournament
for the first time in eleven
seasons was the highlight of
the year. The team will surely
miss the leadership and ex-
perience of the five graduat-
ing seniors, Captains Kate
and Corinna, and Erin,
Tracey, and Megan, never-
theless, the future looks
bright if the team continues
its hard work.

Efforts of nine seniors helped
make '94 a season to remember

Led by a balanced running at-
tack and great defense, the
Skippers finished with a final
record of 4-6. Despite some
tough losses, the team re-
mained focused and was able
to accomplish many goals.
Led by co-captains Mick Welz,
Dorian Bryant, and Thomas
Allen, Cohasset worked to
round off the season after a
mid-season slump. The new-

comers helped the 5kippers
with special teams and
staffed the RED TEAM, on
both offense and defense.
Homecoming against Old Col-
ony proved, both mentally
and physically, that this team
could get its wheels turning
and produce a Will. With
freshmen moving up, next
year's varsity team should be
fun to watch!!

Another great season for Blue
as seven seniors make their mark

Led by Capts. Jim and Jer,
the Cohasset Boys' Soccer
Team enjoyed another suc-
cessful season. The toughest
game was "he first one
against top-ranked Norwell.
This defeat made the team
realize it would be facing
challenging opponents, and it
quickly regrouped. A positive
attitude and incredible stam-
ina led to a record of 11-5-2,

qualifying the team for the
States, where Avon was de-
feated in the first round. The
run was cut short by a pow-
erful Williams team, who sur-
passed the team in goals, but
not in spirit. The seven start-
ing seniors will be missed,
but, under the leadership of
'95's captains, Erik and
Chris, the team should con-
tinue its winning ways.

Though the team started out
with a young squad (only two
seniors), they enjoyed a sur-
prisingly successful season.
The season highlights includ-
ed beating 5cituate for the
first time in years and the
crucial last game of the sea-
son, where Cohasset defeat-
ed Notre Dame Academy, For
the first time in five years, the
Cohasset Field hockey team

made the 5tate Tournament.
Although the trip to Nantuck-
et resulted in a loss, they re-
turned home, proud of their
season. With All-5tars Faye
and Chloe returning, and an
experienced group of seniors
making its contribution, next
year should bring another trip
to the tournament.

5kill + technique=great teamwork
and greater outlook for next year

This year's team was quite
competitive, playing a strong
schedule against Division 1,
2, and 3 teams. Mow/ever,
there were some unexpected
outcomes! For the last 2/3 of
the game against Hanover,
Cohasset outscored and out-
played the South Shore
League Champions. As the
season progressed, every
player improved in skill and

technique, which helped to
create a very talented and ex-
citing hockey team. Although
they didn't make the States,
the record during the last
season improved considera-
bly. The seniors will be
missed, but with the help of
some talented young players
coming up, the team will con-
tinue to excel.

Another outstanding season for a
"well-balanced", All-Star, team!

Congratulations go out to the
Girls' Varsity Gymnastics
Team this year who had a
number of reasons to be
proud. With hours of practice
and constant improvement of
their skills, they became
champions of the Pilgrim
Conference II League, with a
record of 13-0. Also, for the
second time in Cf15 history,
this winning team was able to

make the 5outh 5ectionals in
Foxboro. Another amazing
achievement of the gym-
nasts was the unbelievable
choice of five girls for the All-
5tar Team. This talented
squad was coached by
Ruthann Ardizonni, leading
the gymnastics team not only
to its best season ever, but
also to one that is sure to
repeat its success next year.

Wrestlers continue the tradition-
'Take pride in the commitment"

Although a very young
squad, the wrestling team,
led by 5enior Capts. Ryan
and Dan, managed to com-
pile a record of 10-7. This
was the team's fifth consec-
utive year of having 10 wins
or more. Overall, the team
placed 4th at the South Sec-
tionals and had two Sectional
Champs, Tucker Qledhill and
Ryan Freeman. Cohasset

sent 7 wrestlers to the State
Tournament where Tucker
placed 6th, Kevin placed 5th,
and Ryan placed 2nd. Since
only two seniors are gradu-
ating, the wrestlers have a
bright future. The team would
like to thank Coach Buckley,
Coach Rourke, and Coach
Sweeney for their hard work
and dedication.

The team's win over hull was
assisted by 7 talented seniors!

Plagued by injuries, the
Cohasset Girls' Basketball
Team had a disappointing
record (4-14), but not a dis-
appointing season. The Ship-
pers continued to improve
this season, performing very
competitively in the strong
South Shore League, giving
all the powerhouses a run for
their money. The season was
highlighted by a 46-39 vic-

tory over Mull. This victory
was Cohasset's first over the
Pirates in seven years! The
Skippers will be saying good-
bye to seven outstanding
seniors: tri-captains Kate, Liz,
and Erin; Leticia, Adrienne,
Corinna, and Megan. With
some great talent coming up,
the future of the girls' team is
looking great.

Rivals fall by the wayside as
Cohasset drives to E.hass Finals.

This year was an unbelievable
success for the Boys' Bas-
ketball Team. The undefeated
Skippers won the 5outh
Shore League title for the
second straight year, and
then won the Mall of Fame
Classic by defeating Division
1 B.C. High. In the State Tour-
nament, Cohasset won emo-
tional games against Canton
and Apponequet, won in im-

pressive fashion against Do-
ver-Sherborn, and then de-
feated Dedham to capture
the South Sectional title. The
Skippers went all the way to
the E.Mass finals at the Bos-
ton Garden, ending the year
ranked 11th in the state!
Coach Ford has an excellent
returning team and next
year's season should be an-
other great one.

The sKi team, in a rebuilding year, relied upon some very young racers, who surprised the league with their successes.
Both Caitlin and Bobby Stansell worked hard to qualify for the 5tate Championship. Consequently, the coaches are not
only looking forward to more championship opportunities next year, but are also extremely excited about the future of
the entire team!
